Privacy Statement

The aim of the PhotoStruk project (https://photostruk.de) is to expand the common documentation process of photo archives. Based on computer vision methods and citizen science PhotoStruk provides an online tool for an easy to use collaborative documentation of historical photographs.

Everyone can help to enrich old photographs with geospatial and semantic information for a better use of the important documents in different disciplines.

We want to empower users to gain access to historical photographs with regional context and to share individual knowledge about this images.

In all of this, we respect and maintain the value of privacy and data protection, and we give users the ability to control their data.

This Privacy Statement explains how the PhotoStruk project and its online portal collect and process data. It is valid for the duration of the project as well as for the hosting of the online tool after the project through the project partners Technische Hochschule Deggendorf (THD) and University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (JCU).

What kind of Data does PhotoStruk collect?

PhotoStruk offers the opportunity to enrich historical photographs with your own knowledge in order to improve the traditional elaborate photo documentation and to make the images more useable for others.

To achieve this, you can register on the web portal. The data of your registration as well as your participation interactions is collected, processed, stored and shared among the PhotoStruk project partners (THD and JCU).


How we use your Data

The tasks of the project are undertaken by the two institutions THD and JCU.

After finishing the project, the online platform is further hosted by THD. The data is only used for the purposes of the project.

The project is funded by the European Union in the program for cross-border cooperation Freistaat Bavaria - Czech Republic Objective ETZ 2014-2020 (Interreg V) by the European Regional Development Fund. As such we are by law obligated to share and report project data to the programme for territorial cooperation in Europe (INTERREG V Programme). After finishing the project, your data will be stored in accordance with the laws and guidelines of the INTERREG V Programme.


How to access and control your Data

You can view, edit, or delete the data that you entered through registration, at any time in the user profile on the online platform. If you wish to delete your entry, you can click on the button “Delete user account”.

Technologies & Cookies

Protocols By using the web portal, your web browser will send information to our web server. During an active communication of your web browser with our web server the following data will be recorded:

  • Date and time of the access to the website
  • Title of requested file
  • The web site from which an accessing system reaches our website
  • Access status (e.g. file transferred, file not found)
  • The web browser type and version, display resolution, systems software
  • Complete Internet Protocol (IP) address of the accessing system
  • Transferred data volume
  • Protocol files, in general, will be stored for a maximum duration of 30 days.

Cookies

The online platform uses a Session Cookie, which is active for the session and which expires immediately after closing the web browser.

The XSRF-Token is automatically generated for each active user session managed by the application. This token verifies that the authenticated user is the one actually making the requests to the application. It protects from Cross-Site-Scripting and has a lifetime of 120 minutes.

If you do not wish to allow cookies to operate, they can be deactivated in the settings of your web browser.
